Thanks so much for your support everyone! We had an incredible run and we made so many great friends along the way! We couldn’t have done this without you. We’re gone, but hopefully not forgotten. This is an incredible story and it needs to be shared… maybe we’ll return one but for now…

The curtain falls.

Photography has become one of the easiest ways to communicate artistically. It’s everywhere. And the best part about it is that you all have cameras and you all use them already. Twit pics, Facebook uploads, blog posts, Flickr streams… we’re surrounded by images and we’re constantly capturing them.

So what we’re asking you now is “What does ‘temperamental’ mean to you?”

So what does temperamental mean to you? How can you show this in an picture?

We’ll have two winners… the first one will be picked amongst the cast and crew of The Temperamentals and the second will be based solely on the number of “likes” and comments that it gets. So if you enter, tell your friends to like and comment on your picture so you can win!

At The “New Directions for Gay Theatre” Seminar Sunday, April 11

Michael Urie (Lortel nominee Outstanding Lead Actor) and Jon Marans (star and author of The Temperamentals- Lortel nominee Outstanding Play) will participate at the “New Directions for Gay Theater” seminar at The Snapple Theater Center’s Jerry Orbach Theater, 210 West 50th Street (at Broadway) on Sunday, April 11.  Doors will open at Noon for networking and complimentary continental breakfast and coffee. The panel is 12:30pm – 2:00pm.  The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, general managers, venue owners, press agents and marketing personnel, is presenting the second in a series of seminars focused on the culture, business and history of Off Broadway theater. The panel will also feature Christopher Sieber and Michael Zam (star and book writer of The Kid), Leslie Jordan (author and star of Leslie Jordan’s My Trip Down the Pink Carpet) and Joseph Zellnik (composer of Yank!r). ARNIE BURTON (CHUCK et al) On Broadway Arnie created the role of Professor Jordan and many other roles in original company of The 39 Steps at the Roundabout and in its commercial run. He also made his Broadway debut in Amadeus. His Off Broadway credits include the critically acclaimed run of The Merchant of Venice/The Jew of Malta in New York and at the Royal Shakespeare Company in England; Mere Mortals and Others by David Ives, The Last Sunday in June, The Baltimore Waltz, and The Venetian Twins. Other New York theatre appearances include shows at Primary Stages, Circle Repertory Company, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Pearl Theatre Company, and Theatre for a New Audience. THOMAS JAY RYAN (HARRY HAY): last appeared in New York in Ivo Van Hove’s production of The Misanthrope at New York Theater Workshop. Other Off-Broadway credits include Pinter’s Celebration/The Room(Atlantic Theater Company), Juno and the Paycock (Roundabout), Sin (New Group), Venus (Public Theater), and the title role in  In The Matter of J. Robert Oppenheimmer (Keen Company).   His most recent regional theater appearances include Sara Ruhl’s Passion Play (Yale Rep) and Six Degrees of Separation (Old Globe Theater).   He made his film debut as the title character in Hal Hartley’s Cannes Festival winning Henry Fool, a role he reprised in that film’s 2007 sequel Fay Grim.   Other films include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Legend of Bagger Vance, The Book of Life, South of Heaven, and last year’s Strange Culture opposite Tilda Swinton.

MICHAEL URIE (RUDI GERNREICH) Last year, Michael played three roles in the world premiere of Dickie and Babe at The Blank Theatre in LA. Regional credits include Horatio in Dan Sullivan’s Hamlet at SCR, The Old Globe, Seattle Rep, DC’s Folger Theatre, Barrington Stage, and Austin’s Hyde Park Theatre.  In New York, Michael has worked with The Nerve Ensemble at HERE, The Foundry, HB Playwrights, and in WTC VIEW during the Fringe Festival, which went on to become a film from director/writer Brian Sloan. Michael has appeared at The Triad Theatre as Miley Cyrus, David Cassidy, Kenny Loggins, Tommy Lee and sometimes Lance Bass in the hilarious Celebrity Autobiography.  With producing partner Glenn Meehan, he is co-founder of UR-MEE productions.  Michael can also be heard as the voice of Sebastian in Beverly Hills Chihuahua, and seen on ABC as Marc on Ugly Betty.  Training: Juilliard.

“Temperamental” was code for “homosexual” in the early 1950’s, part of a created language of secret words that gay men used to communicate. The Temperamentals tells the story of two men – the communist Harry Hay and the Viennese refugee and designer Rudi Gernreich – as they fall in love while building the first gay rights organization in the pre-Stonewall United States.
